A new study focussing on social media use by college students in the US shows another health problem linked to the use of social media.   We have all heard that social media can lead to mental health problems, including depression, and anxiety but this new study from the University of Buffalo shows a link with chronic inflammation.  The long-term health conditions of chronic inflammation are cancer, diabetes, and heart conditions, as well as mental health issues.  Chronic inflammation can be elevated from stress, loneliness, diet, lack of exercise, and lack of sleep.  Unfortunately, chronic inflammation at a young age can result in health issues and disease later in life.    It is just one more reason to limit our interaction with social media.
