Are you looking for ways to cut down on the chocolate and candies this Easter but still keep it fun and exciting? Here are some ideas for a healthier Easter but still keeping the fun and excitement alive. Maybe it’s time the Easter Bunny brings things other than just chocolate!
Focus on some non-food Easter traditions:
There are so many fun Easter traditions that aren’t as popular today. Maybe it’s time to bring them back. Consider decorating/dyeing hard boiled eggs, going for a walk in the park, or having an Easter egg hunt outside.
Non-Food Items for the Easter basket:
Consider adding some toys that inspire learning and creativity including activity books, Lego, games, colouring books, crayons, stickers, seed packets, sidewalk chalk, etc. Not only will it bring the creativity out in the kids, it may also get them outdoors!
Healthier Food Items for the Easter Basket:
Go beyond the traditional candy. Consider adding other healthier items such as dark chocolate eggs/bunnies, dried fruit or trail mix, mandarin oranges, small bags of popcorn/Goldfish crackers/pretzels, and/or granola bars. It doesn’t mean you have to get rid of the yummy chocolate bunnies or eggs, but you can cut down the sugar they get by mixing other food they like in the basket.
